Starborough Castle February 2020
We were incredibly lucky with our February walk enjoying one of the rare dry days of the month. We started from Marsh Green and enjoyed a 5+ mile walk over fields and tracks to Dormansland before coming back to Marsh Green via Starborough Castle. Our route included passing Dry Hill fort which is a high point in the South East. Starborough Castle was built in 1754 and is a grade 2 listed gothic style castle complete with its own moat. It is thought to be one of the smallest castles in England with only 2 bedrooms plus a long boat on the moat to accommodate extra visitors. It was sold around 2017 for over £1.7 million.
