A Tour of the Barbican

London Studies 2 enjoyed a private tour of the Barbican with our enigmatic, enthusiastic guide, Aaron. The Barbican is an immense and fascinating estate for anyone interested in history and architecture and learning about the design and materials which have clearly stood the test of time. Apart from the concert hall, cinema, leisure facilities, water gardens and parks, we enjoyed the private areas and unique ‘high walks’ concept with our guide. Being a resident, it was very interesting to visit his own flat with the interiors he has preserved as they were when built in the 60’s. It is amazing how the futuristic design, so controversial at the time, sit easily with modern retro interiors now.
